Teaching methodology

The Master includes conferences and seminars on current issues as well as additional activities such as visits to the companies of the sector.

Theoretical and practical lessons supported by new technologies.

The practical training is not only limited to the classroom; it is integrated in the two years of the Master by means of the integrated practices and internship period.

Integrated practices

1. Use of the case study in the lectures
2. Analysis of real case studies in the classroom and in the companies: students face problems and decision taking situations where teamwork has an important role in the development of the course
3. 1.Several visits will be organized and arranged during the course:
   • Logistics integration: supplying, production and distribution of PSA-PEUGEOT-CITR�EN with GEFCO.
   • INDITEX logistics solution (Arteixo - La Coru�a)
   • Airport logistics centres (CLASA). Visit to the air cargo centre of Madrid-Barajas and to the IBERIA Cargo terminal
   • Centro de carga aérea del Aeropuerto de Vitoria y la terminal de DHL.
   • Visita al Centro Logístico del Corte Inglés en Madrid
   • Centro Logístico de Mercadona en Villadangos del Páramo, Leon
   • Facilities of the Ports of Avil�s, Gij�n, Barcelona and Vigo.
   • Different logistics solutions: COFAS, Corporaci�n Alimentaria Pe�asanta (CAPSA), TEMPER, LOGISTA (Madrid).
   • Logistics facilities: Plataforma Log�stica de Zaragoza (PLAZA), Zona de Actividades Log�sticas de Barcelona (ZAL).

4. 1.AVTORITAS: Short Sea Shipping course in open sea. In the Barcelona-Civitavechia-Barcelona route students will receive several training sessions that will allow them to experience a Short Sea Shipping route in real time. In addition, students will get to know the facilities, services, boarding operations, safety and cargo handling, with a special focus on the cost analysis of the operations.

Internships

The practical in-company training will complete the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the lessons. The Master includes a compulsory six-month internship in a company of the sector.

In order to receive the Title of the Master in Transport and Logistics Management of the University of Oviedo, students will have to pass all the courses, present the Master's Thesis and obtain a positive evaluation of the internship period.

Evaluation

The attendance to 80% of the lessons is compulsory. In addition, students have to pass the examinations for every course. The evaluation system consists on several elements: written examinations, participation in the classroom, presentations and assignments.

Master's Thesis

The project will be developed under the supervision of a Director and will be intended to show the students� capacity to apply the acquired knowledge.

EThe project will be delivered and presented before the student starts the internship period. The Master's Thesis will be presented to a committee.
